Hyperkeratosis and Skin Lumps

Hyperkeratosis features a flat or raised patch or skin caused by excessive development of keratin. They are generally benign but only increased in size due to stimulation such as rubbing, or scratching.

Common Skin Tags

These are small, yellowish, hard bumps that appear in clusters, which is a very common skin condition. Milia often appears on the face, especially the eyelids, cheeks, and forehead. They are cysts in the dermis layer that contain keratin.

Typically occurs on the forehead and nose. The lesions are yellowish but appear more like a small depression or navel-like in appearance. This is a benign condition caused by enlargement of the normal sebaceous glands in the skin. Trauma and chronic local inflammation may be contributing factors.

These are growths of the sweat gland tissue in the dermis, composed of “sweat duct cells.” They commonly appear on the lower eyelids and are associated with certain genetic predispositions.

These are quite common, yellowish-brown, raised lesions that occur more frequently in the elderly, also known as “age spots.” They are more common in older individuals (usually appearing around age 50 and increasing in number with age.

These are very common, harmless, flesh-colored growths that hang from the skin, and tend to appear more frequently with age.
